HOW TO UNCLOG YOUR PORES

WHAT ARE PORES?

Fun Fact:   The average adult body has over 1.5 million pores. They are teeny tiny openings in the skin that contain hair follicles and allow particles to pass through

They play a major role in the overall function of our skin by releasing oil, sweat, and impurities. Pores are what allows your skincare products to reach the lower layers of your skin and deliver results.

THERE ARE TWO TYPES:

Oil Pores and Sweat Pores

Oil Pores - These are the ones you can see on your face and help transport sebum (via sebaceous filaments) to the topmost layer of the skin. They keep our moisture barrier lubricated and strong.

Sweat Pores - These keep us cool by allowing sweat to escape when our bodies become overheated. They are invisible to the naked eye.

HOW DO PORES GET CLOGGED?

They are a number of reasons one can have blocked pores. The most common reasons, pores becoming clogged with excess oil, dead skin, or dirt which is normally due to lack of cleansing/exfoliation and fluctuation in hormone levels. Genetics can also come into play in certain circumstances. When this happens for Sweat Pores, this can result in a heat rash. When this happens for Oil Pores, it can turn into a pimple.

HOW TO UNCLOG PORES:

There are two major ways to detox your pores and reduce their visibility: Exfoliating and increasing cellular turnover rate.

Exfoliation removes dirt and impurities from the face to unclog pores and help prevent acne. ... Use a facial scrub to help prevent blemishes, banish clogged pores, and improve the texture and feel of your skin.

When Increasing Cellular Turnover the longer the cell turnover cycle takes, the more dead cells are left to build up on the surface of the skin. This proliferation of cellular debris makes skin look heavy, dry, and dull.  By increasing cell turnover, you remove dead skin that has accumulated on the surface. You reduce the appearance of pores.
